The Importance of Routine

Happy Sunday,

Today I wanted to speak on the topic of routines, specifically morning routines and how they make a difference in your day. I recently created a morning routine, written down on paper in order of how I want it done. It is strategically placed next to my bed so that when I hit my alarm clock it is staring me in the face waiting to be done.

Until about a week ago, that's right just a week, I would wake up and lay in bed for the next 30 minutes on my phone with no motivation to get up or do anything. Bam, right off the bad 30 minutes wasted and a terribly slow start to the day. Little did I know, these 30 minutes in bed was the movie trailer for the rest of my day, every single day. Unproductive, unmotivated and overall wasted days.

Fast forward to now. I have completed my first week of following a morning routine and the results are amazing. Those 30 minutes that I would normally be on my phone, now result in me being ready for the day. You may feel this is insignificant, but it is actually the contrary. Those first 30 minutes preparing myself for whatever battles I plan on facing that day is like showing up to the battle a lifetime before your enemy and every second that passes after is increasing your urge to go.

Challenge: Make yourself a morning routine for when you wake up. Stick to this routine strictly for the next week and see how you feel.
